The IRON SCOUT HIKE is a time honoured tradition at St. Michael's. The first Iron Scout Hike was in 1991, and resulted in
many lost scouts, blistered feet, sore knees, lost leaders, wet boots, muddy pants, and a commitment NEVER to do it again.
Hence, we have trekked this same trail annually since 1993, and our Iron Scout hike has yet to prove itself an easy trek.
It is challenging, but is designed for all ages of Scouts.
Spring in Albert County, New Brunswick, has its variations. we have hiked in tee shirts, winter coats, through tinder
dry woods, or snow to our waists. The most amazing thing is seeing spring arrive in the woods. We can hear the birds, and
have been fortunate enough to find moose antlers and sleepy garter snakes resting beside springs.
This year was no disappointment. It had rained 15mm the evening before, and bridges and rocks were slippery. There was
snow where there should have been snow, water where there should be water, and mud, mud, mud!!!!!!!!
It has always been a great trip.
